Subway Surfer Review:

Subway surfer is a type of game which is addictive to the user, making the user unable to pull away for too long. It’s become one of the most popular games within the App store just like its competition Temple Run and also Temple Run 2. It is a type of game which demonstrates the mobile gaming within the content it’s a version of an endless runner which has many different twists this makes the gaming experience more enjoyable to the user. Using the latest mobile phones you are able to move the mobile device and the game picks up the movement.

The game itself has the user running along a set of subway tracks they have to run as long as they can and keep away from the screen picking up the coins and other items. Throughout the game it is very gripping because you have to make sure you are attentive when playing the game. There are many different obstacles which the user comes across this keeps the user alert.

When playing the game Subway Surfer you are able to swipe your finger to make from the left and right on the screen. The character is also allowed to switch between one of the three different subway tracks. During the game you would always more forward and transferring from left to right allow the user to be in control. The challenge of the game is to collect as many coins as possible. The game offers unlock able achievements so it keeps the user interested given the user also an advantage during game play.

The graphics in the game Subway Surfers are 3D which is amazing for the user because they are able to see the texture of the graphics. The graphics are sharp and visual allowing the user to feel as if they are within that environment. The graphics which are featured add to the gaming experience. The characters itself have been creating to fit all different type of ethic. The game itself subway surfer is a real good game which would give any other type of runner game a run for its money.

In the game Subway Surfer the music isn’t that distracting because there isn’t that much music. So no matter what if you have music or you don’t have the background music then it wouldn’t distract you. On subway surfer there isn’t a function which allows multi player.

The rewards you can receive when completing each starting position until you hit obstacles then you can receive boosts such as head starts and hover boards. During the games you can receive items such as jumping sneaker and also coins. You are also able to buy coins and spend them on things in their online store. Sometimes developer of this type of games would make it hard for the users to get coins so they would use their own real life money to buy coins. However I think that the aim of the game is to collect as many coins so buying coins isn’t any point in wasting your own real money.

In conclusion the game is similar to temple run the aim of the game is the same as well however there is a few differences. One of the features with the game subway surfer you are able to share your score with your friends on Face book this allows users to be able to communicate while enjoying the game. Another feature about this game is that the more you process in the game the faster the speed goes allowing the user to feel the pace of the game. Also receiving more coins you can purchases items like more characters, this allows the user to build on their character and profile.

Overall Subway Surfer is a good game which allows you as a player to be able to enjoy the games.

Quake Review:

Quake is the type of game which is a level design shoot game. The function of the game is to kill creature which is represented in 3D shape animated zombies and also beasts. The environment of the game is set in a dark tomb the atmosphere is dark so it is setting an ancient type of environment. While the user is playing the game they have a certain type of music to set the atmosphere making the game even more dramatic. When the player is playing they are able to shoot the zombies and the creature which are featured in the game, when the player navigates around the game they are able to pick up their life and also bullets. They also receive rewards like which would improve their game play.

The story of the game quake goes up in level doing my own research I found out that they are 8 levels to complete however at level 7 there is a stage where you have to complete for the player to be able to continue onto level 8. With the first level (Level 1) this part of the game was were the player was getting to know the game and what the game had to offer with the features and what the player had to do so they were able to progress onto the next level. The game Quake has been designed as a level designer this is when the design has been assigned missions. The game setting varies in opinion some would say it is environmental, since it’s set in a tomb full of 3D animation of zombies.

When actually playing the game it was hard at the beginning since you had to figure out how to start the game. As the user starts the game you have come to terms of all the different functions. After you come to term with what you have to do the game is more like and adventure having to find out where to go and find out what the mission is. Completing the level was hard in some case the more you went into the game. The game featured a physical approach the reason why is the player of the game is playing there is no character so the player itself was playing the game so the user felt like they were physical in the game. Throughout the game there is loads of level to complete up to level 7 or 8. You have to be able to complete the different stages/ missions.

The graphics which were featured in the game quake was very pixel. One of the criticisms with the graphics (user interface) is that when starting the game there was no guide of how you have to play the game. There was no instruction like what the player had to do with the keyboard. Also the start-up menu was only available when you pressed a certain button on the keyboard with was ESC. It wasn't user friendly like having the instruction when the game started however it might be part of the game to give that type of suspicion.
The graphics was 3D however it wasn't a high quality graphic or even a high resolution.
Overall the graphics were poor quality and it was hard to play the game.

The sound within the game had a scary feel to it like the sounds when walking around isn't as strong as when you approach the creatures such as the zombies. Also when navigating around the game the player made sounds such as they come to certain areas of the game. However there was hardly any sound during the game.

There is an option of multiplayer you able to play against each other. Using the multiplayer you was able to interact more. I found that using multiplayer was a fun way to interact with the game.

The trophies system on Quake works on the base of top-up on life and also bullets. Basically the trophy system is the completion of the mission and level. For the user who is playing the game will feel as if completing the mission and level will be an achievement.

In quake i found that the game play isn't as interesting because sometime it is hard to find your way around the game. However some people might disagree saying that the game purpose is to find out what game is all about.

I found the game not as interesting the graphics wasn't at a high resolution this made the game play not interesting.

Epic spelling errors

Your online reputation is very important these days. Potential future employers will be looking for you and what you say online. Spelling and grammatical mistakes can even have an impact on who you date.

If this is not your strongest point, there are various tools to check and some sites underline your errors with red squiggles as you type. If there is no spell check on the site you're on, you can open a new page a type into any online spell checker (Google it) before you post.

We're all human and we make mistakes but if you find yourself in a constellation of errors then you may lose the impact of what you were trying to say and become a laughing stock....

Temple Run iOS Review

Introduction

Developed by Imangi Studios, Temple Run is a third person, 3D endless running game first released for iOS in April 2011. It is compatible with all iOS devices. I will be reviewing the iPhone 3GS version. It is similar to games like Gravity Guy and Canabalt.

Story

There isn’t really much of a story to Temple Run. There are a group of characters that the player can choose from. Whoever is chosen takes the idol from the temple. They are then chased by monkeys. This then initiates the game. The story is really there just to set up the game. There’s no narrative at all. There’s only a little description of each character. Overall, what little narrative there is, is only there to set the game up.

Gameplay

In Temple Run, the goal is to run, jump, duck and turn left and right to avoid randomly placed obstacles to get a high score. There is no victory condition as such; you just keep playing until you die. You can’t win in the game. The only goal is to get a high score. Running is done automatically, jumping is done by swiping up, ducking is done by swiping down, to turn left and right, you just swipe in the respective directions. The player can also tilt the iPhone to move left or right to collect coins. All of these actions work great on the iPhone 3GS most of the time, though there is some slowdown at times. This is made worse if more apps are open in the background. The slowdown at times has caused me to die because the phone wasn’t responsive enough, especially when the speed of the runner increases later in the game.

There are also power-ups to unlock which can aid the player, such as, invisibility, which means the player can just run through obstacles, speed boost, which boosts the player through ahead and coin magnet, which lets players automatically collect coins for a certain period. These power-ups can also be upgraded to further aid the player. There are also utilities which can be bought to help the player. These include resurrection wings, which allow the player to respawn after death and boost which can be used at the start of the game to boost the player ahead 1000 metres. These abilities add progression to the game as they can be upgraded. They also make it a little easier to get a higher score, though the game is still challenging.

There are also objectives to complete, such as “play X amount of games” or “collect X amount of coins”. While these objectives also add more to strive for, they also increase the score multiplier, thus allowing the player to get a higher score in a shorter amount of time. I felt the objectives were great. Some of them are challenging and time-consuming, but they’re worth the reward.

Overall the gameplay is great. Despite the lag, the game is still addictive. I still keep coming back to beat my high score.

Graphics

The graphics in Temple Run are good. Characters models are good, though they lack any proper definition, much like the environments. Textures on objects like trees and walkways don’t look that great. There are a lot of jagged edges. A lot of the obstacles are also clearly used over throughout the game. Overall, though, the graphics are good for an iPhone game.

Sound

The sound in Temple Run is good. The music is good. I think it goes well with the game. It helps to immerse the player in the game. The sound effects are also good. There’s a nasty thud when you walk into a tree, the water splashes when you fall in. There are really any bad sound effects, so overall, I think the sound is good but it’s not incredible.

Conclusion

Temple Run is a great game. It’s got addicting gameplay. It’ll keep you coming back. The sound and graphics are ok. They’re not great but they won’t hinder the experience at all. So if you have an iOS device, I recommend you download Temple Run, though if you have an older device it might be slow, so I would close all other apps first.

Summary

Good points: addicting gameplay, lots to unlock

Bad points: slowdown
