Safer Internet Day 2013

Safer Internet Day 2013 took place on Tuesday 5th February. It is the 10th anniversary of this campaign and the theme this year was online rights and responsibilities.

Year 7 and 8 pupils entered a competition to win a cute 4gb USB prize for the most creative and positive cyber message. This could come in the form a poster/glog, graphic, video/animation, or song recording but it had to be original.

All entrants received a merit and the three finalists received a certificate from school stickers (which can be used to go towards more prizes).

I was very impressed with the overall quality of entries considering they were all produces so quickly. The criteria which it came down to in the end was the selection and editing of images, and use of mixed media such as incorporating images, text and sound.

1st place, Abida (Year 7)

2nd place, Iqra (Year 7)

3rd place, Alya (Year 7)

Game Review - Limbo

Introduction- what is it about?

Limbo is a single player game was released in the early year of 2010.   It is an LIMBO is a 2D puzzle-platform video game.

Story:

The aim of the game was clearly stated from the start. The aim of the game is for the user to guide an unnamed boy through hazardous environments. The user has to figure out different ways to get pass obstacles before they are able to continue searcher for the unnamed boy’s missing sister. The game has been designed in a method that predicts that the user will fail each obstacle at least once before they manage to get across it. Some interrupted that the game is used to teach people a lesson that sometimes no matter how many times you fail you just have to keep trying.

Gameplay:

With the game play the user has control over the unnamed boy. As the user has full control over the boy the user can then decide the direction they want to move the boy in. the user can is also  able to make the unnamed boy  push and pull obstacles in any direction of their choice.   The dark theme within the game is used to hide the obstacle as the user go along. The more obstacles the user successful passes the closer the user can get to find the sister of the unnamed boy. There are various of obstacles the unnamed boy can come across such as a spiders, bear trap, hole in the ground or even drown.

Graphics:

I actually think the way the graphics in Limbo is presented has been structured extremely well. The game goes for a spooky and haunted theme. For that purpose the game uses dark and ghostly background. I like the fact that the game uses a spooky theme but also manages to keep the background clear for the user playing the game to see what going on.  This can be quite difficult to have together but I thought the approach they used to make it work together was very creative. The graphic is presented in a way which set the scene for the user and allows them to understand the story of the game.

Sound:

I didn’t like the minority of the sounds used in the game.  I actually ended up muting the sound after a few minute of playing the game because I found it quite annoying. I understood that the designer was trying to go with a sound that compliments theme however I thought that the graphic that had been used already do so and by add the same style of sound it just made things too much. I think that more adventurous sounds could have been use than the creeper sound as it just made me switch of after a while. However I surprisingly did like a few of the sound that have been used, for example the player the user fell into the trap the snap sound of the closing deadly bear traps.

Conclusion:

Personally I thought that the game as a whole was good but however I do feel that there are lots of area that need improving. For instance the sounds I also think that the story could have been structure differently to understand the purpose of the game. For example maybe showing a quick scene right before the game starts of the sister being capture or something along those line. When I started play I started of excited as I faced some obstacle but after a while I got bored because of the dull theme that displayed on the screen.

Game Review Quake

Introduction - What is the game about?

The game “quake” is a first play shooting game which enables a user to choose between “single” and “multiple players”. The game was created around the year of 1966. The aim of the game is to kill the creatures that try to kill the user to stop you from completing the different level as well as collecting trophies s they go along.

Story:

Personally I think that the stop of the game was set in an approach that isn’t too complicated for the user to understand. For example the way the game started easy and slow not just throwing them in the middle of the battlefield straight away. By starting them of slow enable the user to get the concept of the game for the to take in what is happening and understand what they are meant to be doing in the game  although the game offers instruction they are often skipped. I like the way the story had been set out the game consist of 28 different challenges. Which the user had to find the gate to the next level which i easily understood after finishing the first level.

Gameplay:

The games started of quite simple to allow the user the get the hang of things before it got more difficult. I thought this was extremely beneficial as most people usually always skip the instruction and like to try it out and learn new things as the go on. General I like the way that gave the user an option to use the mouse or the keyboard as some people are more comfortable with the mouse compare to the keyboard. This allowed the user to shoot from a variety of angles and distances. There are two gameplays that consist within quake; single and multiple players. With the single player the aims of the games is to find hidden passages ,collected as many useful objects as they can as well as destroying the obstacles what get In the way of completing the mission as fast as possible. The multiple player has the same aims however it is done while working together.

Graphics:

Personally I think the graphics used in quake are quite poor. For playing the game I found it quite hard to differentiate the celling from the ground. I think the graphics could be better as some of the aims of the game are to find hidden passages which is quite difficult to do with poor quality images.  For instance when I entered the water the screen went really dark, fuzzy and blurry it could have had a more water effect or even having a different colour on the water.

Sound:

I think that the sounds that are used in the games are good as they are fit for purpose. For example when the user goes into the water the splashes the game makes goes really well making it more realistic. Another example of good use of sound is when reloading a gun with bullets. A lot games sometimes miss out the sound of reloading a gun which is one of the most obvious things to have in a shooting game. I thought that the sounds used in quake came across extremely effective.

Conclusion:

Overall I really like the structure and setting of the game. I liked the way the designer stuck to a typical cliché story of a shooting game but added a little twist. Although there are little flaws like the graphics however the other aspect within the game such as the sounding and story make up for little flaws. Another weakness within the game is that it uses boring and dull colours. I think that the designer could have brighter colours and a more attention grabbing background.

Earn to Die review

Introduction
‘Earn to Die’ is a driving game which consist in smashing through hordes of zombies as you drive your way through a zombie apocalypse. The aim of the game is to find a car and upgrade to enable you to reach a military aircraft that’s ready to help you escape. The more zombies you kill and the further you get, the more points/money you get to upgrade fuel, engine, gearbox, wheels, zombie kit, gun and boost.

Story
‘Earn to Die’ starts you off with a broken-down car and just points/money to be able to apply one upgrade. In time you will kill zombies and cover more distance which will enable more point to be added and therefore more upgrades to be applied. As levels advances so do vehicles and their upgrades. Enhancing the player’s ability to smash through zombies and allow you to climb hills, cliffs and smash through wooden planks that are assembled into boxes.  The aim of the game is to upgrade and get to the military aircraft as fast as you can witch is at the end of the road.

Game play
‘Earn to die’ is a popular game that is enjoyable to play bringing new stages of vehicles, upgrades and obstacles to allow the player to appreciate the aim of the game. Earn to die is a fast driving game that steals the players attention in wanting them to complete all the upgrades of every vehicle.  The game is presented in a good manner with a good presentation as it has easy menus and simple controls witch allow the player to navigate through the game with ease. Another good factor is that every time you play you always progress in getting more point/money which allows you to upgrade. However progress could be slow and put off some players.

Graphics
The graphics of the game are good but could be better. All the levels consist of similar landscapes and zombies witch could be ‘boring’. However the game is clear and is presented in a high quality manner which drives the player into action. It also contains ‘slow motion’ effects when doing credible hits on zombies witch may excite and encourage players to get to the end.

Sound
The sounds in the game does not help to actually help players in the game environment, as it contains several different sounds that will disturb the players performance. The sounds presented in the game are also load and called be ‘annoying’. And in some cases may result to players muting the sounds. Also contain repetitive music tracks; more variety would be appreciated.

Conclusion
In conclusion, the game runs perfectly well with simple controls but also has a few ‘put offs’ which may impact the player’s game play. A ‘put off’ that I experienced is at the beginning because you’re starting with a broken down car that hardly allows you to kill zombies or cover some distance. However once the player has gathered a few points/money this is fine. The good thing is the further you get in the game the better it gets as faster and more powerful features are unlocked. Another negative is that you have to go through the same level a couple of times before you reach the end of the level, this could be rather annoying to less patient players. As a player I would like to see more levels and more upgrades as each level vehicle has more or less the same upgrade that is just more powerful.

Summary
Fun game and easy to understand

Well presented

Mortal Kombat Game Review

Introduction
Mortal Kombat is an action packed game that enables users to play on PS3/XBox this consists of a variety of characters that the player could choose from, after doing so they will be given a challenge where they will have to battle in order to face another battle with other competitors.

Story
The game consists of a story mode that involves the player taking the role of a variety of different characters and that is when the main plot is told. There are other features such as a training mode that allows players to practice their moves/skills with their chosen character that they have selected. So the game would mainly consist of fights taking place in a two-dimensional plane and every time the player wins he or she would face another tournament where they would have to fight against another character.  This is very tense and addictive making it a well laid out immersive game, where the players would be captured into the game by its challenges and its vivid graphics.

Gameplay
The game is a 2D game that consists of 3d graphics, it involves players choosing a character of their choice, by selecting a certain character that would have different moves and a finishing move called the Fatality move; this is a free hit at the end of the game to finish off the losing player. There is also a feature called the Super Meter, this consists of three different but affective actions that can be used at three different levels, adding to that most players would normally use it on the full three levels to allow then to use a unique attack called an Xray move. This is a very graphic attack as it shows the defending player’s characters bones and organs being broken/come apart/burst. The controllers have four buttons that all represent a certain attack that is linked to a corresponding limb of that character that they have chosen. As well as that players are also able to follow specific buttons sequences that would result to different types of exceptional moves.

Graphics
The graphic of the game isn’t so bad compared to other games, as it’s a high quality graphical game that also consists of rather excellent and eye catching 3D like backgrounds, with textures being of a good quality, but on the other hand the lightings of the game could of been improved to make the quality of the game better. As well as that, During the close ups the game does seem to lose its quality especially whilst the Xray moves are played as there sometimes a few minor glitches that take place. Adding to that, it also does take a while to match up a player and actually get the game starting but other than that the graphics of the game are exceptional, due to its attention to detail of the graphics.

Sound

The sound of the game without a doubt was just right and suited the game perfectly. The sound effects when the characters were getting hurt made it so realistic even though at some point the sounds were exaggerated but seen as very dramatic. By having high quality sound effects that played every time something happened made it that bit intense, which as a result can really aid to immerse players in the games environment. This would give players an opportunity to experience the game to a much more capturing vivid experience.

Conclusion
Overall the game is a brilliant and can really get players into the game just by playing one round. Adding to that it also allows multi players, which would have a positive impact due to the fact that it would be seen as a social activity. As well as that, the game also allows players to choose their character which is gives it that creative and expressive play because of the fact that most people love to pick and select their own character. However due to its wide range of fighting moves it comes with; the pressing of control buttons as a result would become more complex making it harder for beginners to play and get the hang of, but other than that Mortal Kombat is a superb game.

Summary
An excellent action packed game worth playing
In depth graphic game can be seen as off putting due to its detailed contents

Motherload Review

Introduction
‘Motherload’ is an arcade game which consist a robotic mining machine. The robotic mining machine is sent underground to collect minerals and valuables of chucks of different elements such as gold. Collected minerals and metals are worth some money, each of its own value. These minerals and metals are used to upgrade the robots performance in digging.

Story
‘Motherload’ starts you off with a simple robot with very little fuel and money. The more you dig down collecting both minerals and metals, the more money you get when you convert it in the ‘mineral processor’. The money is used to upgrade the performance of the drill, hull, engine, fuel tank, radiator and cargo bank. All of which provide better chance of getting more metals and minerals so that you get to go further down the ground. The further down you go the player gets to come across fossils that are worth a lot witch also contributes to your upgrading credit. The player may experience obstacles such as hard rocks witch are not penetrable, however the game provides a ‘Emendation Station’ witch provide dynamites to overcome these obstacles. This station also sells reserve banks, hull Repair nanobots and teleporters which allow you to reach the games aim.

Game play
‘Motherload’ is a good game that is fun to play especially with its simple controls and upgrades. The aim of the game is to get to the bottom, upgrading the mining robot when collected minerals and metals are exchanged for money. The game provides upgrades and other devices such as dynamite to enable the player to reach their goal.  The game has an addictive edge to it. Even though it is slow to begin with its no problem when you start upgrading and receiving rewards for reaching checkpoints and collecting more valuable items such as fossils and diamonds.

Graphics

The graphics of the game are fair but old fashioned and pretty boring.  Motherlaod has a dull background which is not exciting, if I was to improve the game the thing I would focus on the most would be to make it more interesting to look at. This is because it contains only one basic colour; brown, this may result to the player quitting the game without completing it due to boredom.

Sound
The sounds in the game contains a repetitive music track are with a drilling noise. This is a ‘put off’ as it may distract the player. However the good thing is the game does allow the players to turn the volume of both music and drilling sounds down or completely mute them.

Conclusion
Apart from the graphics, the game is brilliant as there is lots of options and upgrades to help the player gradually get better at it. Controls of the mining robot are simple when using the arrow keys and upgrading at the shop. However the game can become boring when starting off as you have no upgrades even though the game keeps the player hooked on as it rewards the player when they reach certain check points underground. The game contains ‘glitches’ that stops the mining robot from functioning properly, this may be annoying and discourage the player in finishing the game.  Overall I think the game is okay but there are many things to improve such as the quality of the game and the removal of the glitches.

Summary
Poor graphics

The game also contains glitches which can become irritating
Fun after getting used to the game and rules

Quake Live Game Review

Introduction

Quake is a first person shooter game which consists of killing anything that will come in the way of the player and will result in them losing. The game consists of rules that the player must abide by when playing. As well as that the player has a goal of collecting weapons, armour, and health and also power up that would increase their chances of succeeding.

Story

The story of the game is quite simple as it is structured in a way that players would be using a map as a guide also having to run around with weapons to kill anything that comes in the way. The game doesn’t consist of levels; it however does record the player’s kills/deaths, wins/losses. By having a variety of weapons that the player can choose from, different types of missions as well as having options whether to play with multi players or not makes it that more interesting for the players. This means that there is a higher chance for players to be drawn into the game as the game comes with a wide range of options that best suit the player as well as it having an option to customize/change their avatar, which allows the user to relate to the protagonist.

Game play

Quake Live is a fast paced action game play which meant players were drawn into the game more, resulting them to being immersed as the players would co so fixated to the game that they would only result to them losing track of time. However the game could be improved a lot more making it better for the player, as there were things like the quality of the graphics that could have been improved to make it more eye catching as the quality was just dull and simple.  Adding to that the controllers to the game was rather complicated and the weapons given at the start of the game wasn’t so useful, for example he machine gun required constant shooting just to kill, as well as that players had to quickly change weapons many times during the game making it harder for players to get comfortable to use certain weapons.

Graphics

The graphic of the game is rather dull and simple, not only that but the graphics have also been used repeatedly in many areas making it predictable and not so eye catching. During the close ups the game is much more clear and has a better quality making it easier for the player to feel at ease and continue playing the game without facing any difficulties in terms of the visual aspects of the game.

Sound

the sound in the game does in some ways help to actually immerse players in the game environment, as it captures their attention a lot more as it helps bring the experience to a whole new level for the players making them feel like they are actually in the game and actually participating so in other words it helps create an artificial reality for the players.

Conclusion

In conclusion I think the game overall is quite fun to play with and it can easily get players drawn into the game due to its missions that it involves, as well as the format of the game and not forgetting the wide range of options it gives to the players. Also the fact that it allows players to customize their own avatar gives the game a higher advantage of getting more users to play as most people love to customize as it gives them a bit of power. However, it would be better if the games graphical aspects were improved as well as quality wise, adding to that if the controls to the game was made much more easy and having clear and understandable instructions would have been a lot more better making it easy for players especially beginners.

Summary

Quake is quite simple and a fair game making it easier for immerse players to be captured into the game.

The structure/format of the game is very repetitive.

Quake review

Introduction
Quake is a first person action game set in a 3-D world; the player is able to view all elements of the game from any angle simply by using the annotation keys or the mouse. The real-time animations are also highly sophisticated showing effects like explosions and flying particles as well as hidden objects that shoot out from hidden compartments. There are rules in the game that the player must follow in order to succeed. In order to stay alive the player must collect weapons and armour as well as keeping their health and power up to survive.
Story
The game is structured in a way which is easy to understand by the user. Before playing the user has an option of selecting the help function which will show them all the controls and how to use them. The player must go through the game killing all the monsters or opponents that get in the way. The kills and wins are recorded on the bottom of the screen. There are no levels but the player must go through doors and find their way around alert of anything hidden or coming towards them. The player has the option of playing single or multi player, some players may feel more comfortable playing single because they feel they are not as advanced as other player. Furthermore the player is able customize their avatar to best suit their preference and relate to the protagonist.

Game play
Quake is a fast paced 3-D game which allows the user to attack and get attacked from any angle therefore the player must aim their weapon carefully and accurately to shoot the target. The player can choose to use the keyboard or mouse though the mouse is much preferred as it is easier and quicker to use underwater or in deathmatch situations. The game can be played single or multi-player, it is highly addictive and players can find themselves loosing track of time.

There’s simply one way to deal with the opponents: with violence. Quake gives the player weapons like shotguns, grenades, nail guns, lightning guns and rock launchers although beginners will not receive all these weapons until further along the game. A disadvantage is that the player had to quickly change weapons and in panic situations will result to them dying; this could take a lot of time getting comfortable with and may frustrate the players.

Graphics
The graphics of this game are quite dull and old in comparison to modern computer games. The poor graphics can cause irritation to the eyes and the colours are also very dull and repetitive.  However the close ups are much clearer and the monster animations look convincing enough to want to kill!

Sound
The sound effects are quite eerie and dark further capturing the player in the game. Quakes sound helps to bring the player into the game and make them feel as if they are actually there. It helps to create artificial reality and grabs the player’s attention.

Conclusion
In conclusion I found this game very addictive and fun to play once you got the hand of it. It raises a sense of curiosity to the player wanting to know what’s next or where you could end up. It’s exciting to use the different weapons and to choose which better suits you. Furthermore I really liked the option it gave the players of being able to customize their own avatar which makes them feel like they have more control. However I found the graphics quite distracting and they could be improved. The instructions were also hard to understand and could be made clearer.

Summary
Quack is a fun and simple game which allows the player to get lost in capturing you through its halls with its ominous atmosphere and complementary soundtrack

Repetitive graphics and colours

GAME REVIEW – QUAKE FLASH

Overall: 5.5 out of 10

Introduction

Quake is a first person shooter game and the first version of the Quake series game. The latest game of the Quake series was Quake live which has better graphics and gameplay that compared to the other versions of Quake series. The game was developed by id software in 1996. The story line of the game is similar to the previous id’s game called Doom.
Story
The story for the game is laid out well as the unnamed protagonist sent to the portal to complete the mission which was to stop the enemy called Quake. The game has four episodes which consists around 28 levels. The main goal of the game is to survive the level by killing an opponent and to reach the exit gate to go to the next level of the game. When completing the quest, the player can upgrade weapons, collect power-ups and so on.

Game play

The game doesn't have different play styles however it works fine. The controls are bit complicated but it gives options to change the controls depending on the user. The player can play either single player or multiplayer. In single player, the user search for the exit gate to reach the next level by facing monsters and finding some secret areas along the way. To find the secret areas, you need to look for walls that have something different to the normal walls then you have to shoot it. To shoot the opponent, User presses the control button and to open the certain doors, the user needs a key to open the doors. Once, the player reaches the exit, the player move on to the next level. If the player killed by opponent, then the player starts the game from scratch.
Graphics
The graphic of the game is not eye catching and the graphics are bit repetitive such as walls, doors etc. The colours are dull and the graphics are not high quality. Sometimes, it may hurt your eyes to spot the opponent due to the poor graphics. It is very hard to find difference between the walls and other object due to the texture of the game is same.  The game looks fine during the close up and long distance. The graphic is not detailed however this game gives adequate graphics to succeed the game and to satisfy the user’s expectations.
Sound
The sound helps the success of the game. In some cases sound effect can really help to immerse the player in the games environment and truly bring the experience to a new level. For example, the sounds of gunfire shatter. The sound can also distract the user from playing the game and the background sound effect can be a bit irritation for some users.

Conclusion

Overall, the game is good and fun to play however, the graphic of the game is not great. The colour scheme they have used for texts and images is not eye catching; it looks boring and simple. It doesn't allow the user to customize characters and so on. However, it does offer the player to use different types of weapons to kill varies types of monsters. The brightness of the game is dull and dark however, it does give a feel of haunted place where you can kill zombies and it creates a scary kind of atmosphere that leads the user to fight for their life in order to survive.

Summary

Pros: It is fun to play and simple. It has a good story line.
Cons: The graphic of the game and some of the sound effects could be improved. There is lack of colour schemes and rewards.

GAME REVIEW – ASPHALT 7: HEAT

Overall: 8 out of 10

Introduction

Asphalt 7 is a racing game from the Asphalt series which was published and devolved by Gameloft. This game is for both IOS and android platform users. It was released in 2012 and it is one of the best and newest racing games in the market.

Story

The story of the game is similar to the previous games in the Asphalt series. The player races each other in real world cities such as London and Paris and there are up to 15 tracks. The story of the game is laid out well and it will be easy to relate to the protagonist properly as it has simple ideology. The game has some cut scenes and missions which is good as it allows the player to get into the game. The game has 60 cars from real manufactures such as Ferrari and rest of them are add-ons. It has 6 different game modes and 150 races which includes multiplayer mode.

Gameplay

The game play is works good and it has different play styles to make player not to get bored such as career event, special events and quick player. The career event is more like a challenge where you have to earn stars and cash by completing the specific goals. This allows you to unlock events and more. In the quick play option, you can customize your own track, car and so on to win the race. The levels will unlock depends on their how many stars, reputation and cash you’ve earned.
The controls are not complicated, and all you have to do is tilt or touch the side of the screen to steer with the gas on and you have to touch other side of the screen to get a nitro boost or slow down the car. There is always a lot of power - ups around the track which you can boost up your cash and speed. This means you don’t need to worry about using too much speed boost. Once, you get to use to the controls then it became easy.
The game provides range of events such as normal race, elimination, Paint job, drift, beat ‘em all and King of the hill. Each event has difference personality and also you can buy upgrades that last for one event as it is very useful when you play the time tier events. As you earn more cash and stars then you will able to unlock new cars and upgrade performance of the car. You can also buy stars and cash by using In-app purchase option.

Graphics

Game UI (User Interface) is brilliant and it has detailed graphics where you can find difference between the tracks and other landscapes. The graphic is stunning and texture of the game is awesome. During the close up, it looks good such as effects they have used for tracks, buildings etc. The graphic allows you to look the objects clearly even though in long distance. The cut scenes look good and the cutting edge graphics is beautiful. The retina display makes the graphics more beautiful like the cars, cities etc. There are lots of graphics have been used however, they are bit repetitive such as rocks, water, sky in some areas. This game offers a real time graphics as it compares to other games in the same market.

Sound

The soundtrack of the game is awesome and it helps the user to play the game more energetic and gives the feel of racing in real world. It helps the success of the game and some of the sounds help the player to engage in the gaming experience. The techno music can also be a huge encouraging when playing a game and in some cases, it can be a bit deterrent.

Multiplayer

The game provides multiplayer option which allows the user to play against up to 5 – 6 players through both local and global via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and online. The game may takes time to buffer and also to find track to play. It may lead the user get annoyed and bored of finding a multiplayer game. You can create new or find tracks to compete with other players however the multiplayer option is not effective as it compared to the previous version of the series and it has few issues when sharing the scores and playing on the multiplayer mode. You can compare stats, show off achievements and challenge with other users. Also it allows you to keep track on leaderboard stats. The ‘Asphalt Tracker’ feature allows you to connect to Facebook or Gameloft Live to play against with your friends.

Trophies

This game offers range of rewards which allows the user to gain level, reputation, money and stars depends on their mission. The rewards and graphics are awesome and it would good for user who wants to play real time racing game. This makes the user more addicts into the game. The more the level, the more difficult it can be and also the can get higher rewards depending on their difficulty of the goal and events. To earn cash and gain level, you can play a normal race.

Conclusion

Overall, Asphalt 7 is a good arcade game which gives you a real time racing experience. It has fantastic graphics and offers range of options. However, the game doesn't offer any new innovation which is an improved version of previous version. It is not worth to buy for asphalt 6 users but, if you want to try a real gaming experience, Asphalt 7 is the best choice to go for. The gameplay and soundtrack is excellent.

Summary

Pros: It provides detailed and stunning graphics and also it allows user to play with other players both online and offline. The soundtrack is awesome and energetic. It offers varies collection of legendary cars, various tiers, career events tracks and rewards make you more into the game.
Cons:  It is very similar to the previous version of Asphalt series (Asphalt 6). The multiplayer mode is not effective and it takes to time to share your achievements online. The In app purchasing can be bit annoying. In some devices such as Google nexus, the game is not that good; the blurry graphics and low frame rates disappoint the Google nexus user.

There are up to three strikes and if you miss that, then the game is over. The more you slice, the higher your score will be. The game doesn't have cut scenes and missions. However, it will be easy to recognize the character correctly.

Gameplay
The gameplay is good and fun; it offers range of different play styles. The controls are easy. The game offers the user to play in three different modes such as Arcade, Classic and Zen mode. The Zen mode is designed for user who wants to play without bombs and lives, just to slice fruits within 90 second. The classic mode has three sticks and if you hit the bomb, then you will out. In the Arcade mode, the bomb costs points and you have to slice fruits within 90 seconds. It offers some bonus points and power-ups to increase you points before the time runs out.

In Dojo option, you will able to earn rewards based on your points. It allows you to unlock blades, backgrounds and achievement. Also, you can post your points to the online leaderboard by using Openfeint or even posts on social networking sites e.g. twitter.
