Fazl's Thorpe Park Review

When thoughts drop on Thorpe Park, every single person thinks of one word. Fun. However, when me and my I.C.T (Information Communication Technology) class visited one of the most dramatic and action-packed theme parks in the United Kingdom, we didn’t just have fun, we had a close look into the world of I.C.T in theme parks which grabbed our attention and just made us shout one word. Wow!

During a nice working day, our coach arrived at the adventurous park one and a half hour later. 10:30am, the time was after starting the journey at 9:00am. The eye-catching tourism attractions such as: London Eye, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament waved at us while we were sitting in the coach, and I therefore knew an exploratory day was heading our way. Once our eyes caught sight of the Thorpe Park logo and the rides’ billboards, we all screamed in excitement as if we were to enter Heaven. The nervousness of exams was a complete irony of this. A mixture of butterflies in my tummy and goose bumps in my body enlightened my tired (of the journey) mood into enthusiasm. Our teacher instructed us, and we made no mistake following it. Our bags had to be taken along with any valuables and on we marched to leave the coach and be welcomed into this thrilling new world...

As our teacher waited in a queue of approximately thirty visitors, we were all, also waiting in impatience. Some students talking to their friends, whereas others were running around. I was left standing jumping up and down in exhilaration, relying on my teacher to receive the tickets fast. Later, once we all gathered around the teacher with the tickets, she gave each individual one ticket and a map to share between one group. “You all have time for one ride, then you must come here and wait to go into the workshop”, she told us all, directing her fingers at the meeting point (which was near the ‘Crash Pad’).

The time by now was 10:45am and we had time till 11:15am to experience one ride of our choice. As we all ran off to our destinations, me and my three friends were seeking for a warm-up. Not too soft, neither too harsh. Vortex was one of the closest and impressing rides that was awaiting our entrance...

Their turn finished; our turn was next. Me and one of my friend rushed to the seats targeting the middle section. This meant that the two other members of our group had to sit on the side. After a check of the seat security we were all ready for our warm-up, perhaps feeling a bit too nervous. With a slow start, Vortex had begun to go extreme and swing us. It came down again. Then went up. First five feet, then ten feet, then twenty feet. Up to sixty six feet high it went! My heart pumping, beating faster than the speed of a cheetah. My blood boiling in nervousness. Everybody screaming like a manic puppet being dropped off a mountain. Was this a warm-up, or was this a punishment by God?

So next, what happens when you are half tensed, half excited and in the middle of an unfamiliar place? You get lost! Me and my group where now victimised by this trap. With the time being 11:10am, we had only five minutes to re-unite with our class and enter the workshop. It seemed impossible! And in fact, it was. After a few minutes, we gave up trying to find our way ourselves and therefore me and one of my friend continuously questioned every worker asking them for a solution to our problem. With this, one of our friend even got lost trying to find his way!

Approximately 11:35am, we managed to find the workshop and entered silently as we saw a worker explaining Thorpe Park and how it is closely-related to I.C.T. I managed to learn many things. Did you know that the thriller ride Stealth was once rolled back due to unrecognising customer weight? Quiet risk-taking. Well guess what, Thorpe Park is raising thoughts to actually making Stealth do this. Imagine a ride with the speed of eighty miles per hour (under two seconds) rolling back like fire!

As well as this, we were also taught that Thorpe Park now advertises themselves more on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter rather than on television. This is because it is much more expensive (around one million pounds) to advertise on T.V, whereas IM (instant messaging) sites are much more appealing to the target audience (which are teenagers and adults) and cheaper.

Additionally, the ticket scanning machine scans a customer’s age, name, gender and most importantly the place they bought the ticket from. This is because when comparing these data types on a graph, it could be a real help to compare it to the previous and (later on) the next year to see if the business has dropped or increased since the time. The workshop really helped me and other students understand how I.C.T plays a key role in the whole business of theme parks. In this case; Thorpe Park.

Later, when we were dismissed from an extremely helpful workshop, all the students rushed out to be thrilled more of this extravagant and courageous beauty. Me and my friends gained plenty of confidence and therefore ran off to Saw the Ride. With immensity and self-reliance I walked out of the ride screaming “That was nothing. Not enough to scare me!”. Carrying this egotism with me, my group of friends seized all of the thrilling, enthralling, nail-biting rides. Colossus, Nemesis Inferno and Swarm. I had the same thoughts on all of them that I had on Saw the Ride earlier on. However, they were much more enjoyable and unforgettable.

After realising that we were superciliousness with the previous rides, we picked our head up, had a nice swallow, and looked up at the frightening Stealth. We stood in the fifteen minutes queue waiting anxiously, but also convinced. As our turn came next, one of my friend sat next to me in row four, while my other two friends took a seat behind me. My heart was dropping, looking at the height, laughing with a devil smile right in front of my face. “Okay its time...”, I stare at my friend and whisper...

Three, two, one. Nothing. A little longer wait... Go!!! With a flying start my eyes were shutting, I forced them to open and challenge this man-beater. We all flew two hundred and five feet up in the air! For less than a second, I was imagining the ride rolling back again but no! It raced forward; I look down at the world which I am now standing on. My breath chocked back into my throat as the speed of the rollercoaster pushed my soul against my body. Down we came with courageous speed, fire in our eyes. In a blink of an eye, it’s all done. Wow! I have now lived the fearful Stealth!

Thirty minutes before our exit, I persuaded my friends to experience the Tidal Wave. But before this, we were welcomed into the dark, fancy lighting yard of No Way out. 4:25pm, we came out all soaked. Thanks to Tidal Wave. After drying ourselves for a good five minutes, we rushed back to the exit and waited for other students. Now, it was time to go home and make this reality-turned dream into history. “Thank you very much Miss”, I showed appreciation politely with pleasure.

Thorpe Park Review

Thorpe Park is a world renowned theme park and has many parks all over the world that opened in 1979. They are also in partnership with other amusement resorts such as Alton towers. IT, computers and a lot of people are involved to making sure the ride is “safe” and working properly at correct speeds and timing. Without these people the ride won’t go very well and you will probably end up dead. Not too much damage...

The ride ‘stealth’ reaches a maximum height of 62.5m (205 ft). When it was upgraded and became capable of accelerating from 0-80 mph in 1.8 seconds. It is the fast but if not fired with enough speed then it can roll back:

‘Colossus’ the ride was one of the first biggest rollercoaster in Thorpe Park and one of the first rides with loops, which makes your heart come out. The thrilling and must-ride rollercoaster is waiting for you. The twists and turns are an unforgettable experience.

The water ride that does exactly what it says... the ‘Tidal wave.’ The awe-dropping ride that will certainly NOT leave a bit of you dry. A high drop that prepares you for a real splash. Thrilling...

On the 22nd of May, me and my classmates had the chance to experience the excitement of going to Thorpe park. There we had the opportunity to sit on some of the thrilling rides like the Swarm, Colossus, Tidal Wave, Saw, Stealth and many, many more!

We had started the journey early so we had reached early too. We had a half an hour or so till the ICT workshop so we decided to go on something less thrilling (just to get warmed up). Once we reached (a little late) we were surprised to find the workshop was actually interesting! The person who had taught our workshop session was very informative about all the computer systems installed on all the rides and how there are different ways Thorpe park try to advertise so they can reach their target audiences, such as PR stunts they did like the crash dummies on swarm, so that teenagers would look at it and think of it as a challenge.

After the 45 minute workshop we were free to go on anything we wanted. I was really surprised to see how clean and well-maintained the park is. There were lots of food and drink outlets so eating wasn’t a problem, and the park was big enough so it didn’t feel overcrowded-which was a good thing because there weren’t many people in the queues for scary rides like Swarm or Tidal Wave.

When we got back we were exhausted (and a bit sick) but it was fulfilling because we had the best time going Thorpe Park.

Thorpe Park Review

Journey To Thorpe Park:

I left my house at 7:15am where I met Leanne Tomkins at my bus stop; we then waited for Daniel Poulloura. Leanne needed to stop off at the shop to buy her lunch which took her over 10minutes to decide on what she was getting. We then made our journey to school. When we arrived at the school we got onboard the coach. We then started the journey to Thorpe Park .At first I felt fine. I was a little bit nervous. As the journey slowly continued my car sickness kicked in. This dragged out until we had arrived at the entrance of Thorpe Park  . At that moment my car sickness transformed into nerves jumping around my belly.

Thirty Minutes Before Workshop:

During the free time we were given before we were taken on the 45minute talk about different ways you can die on a roller coaster, Daniel, Leanne and I went nosing around all the rides. All the rides we looked at my instant reaction was “not going on that one”. We took a long walk to Saw the Maze to be greeted by a disserted maze. One of the rides I was considering taking part in was closed. How sad. I looked at my watch and was alerted by the time. We rushed back to the meeting area. However I lead Leanne and Daniel the wrong way and may have got lost a few times. We finally arrived at the meeting area to find out that we were the first people there.

ICT Workshop:

As we were welcomed with a roller coaster graphic design the talks man Dave (what I called him) rapidly began his presentation. I personally was engaged with his presentation due to the fact that I was 100% convinced that my death will be caused by a roller coaster. Dave asked questions throughout the whole presentation which I was raced to answer by people like Fazl, Ardit and others. Miss Guzman was like she was back in school when she was in the workshop. Anyways many of my answers revolved around dying on the roller coaster. Dave had introduced how the roller coasters are run. This is done by using sensors all the way along the roller coaster. He then went on to talk about if there is a fault or slight difference in the way the roller coaster is going the sensors would send a message to the control panel which will then trigger the breaks to shut down the roller coaster.

Rest of the Day – Rides:
First of all Daniel, Leanne and I went on Tidal Wave (one time). This wasn’t what I expected. I knew that there was going to be a steep drop but I didn’t think that you would get as wet as you did. I did enjoy the ride because it was a rush. But I personally don’t like the feeling when you’re on the drop. There was one point of the day where me and Leanne stood on the bridge and waited for the wave. Elvire, Frankie, Asma and Daniel were all watching. The wave came and took out both me and Leanne out. Elvire then said that we had been “KO’d”.

After that we decided to go on the other wet ride Storm Surge (one time) seen as we were already drenched. The man controlling the ride was funny because every time Leanne went to speak he would move the ring thing that we were in which will make her fall off her seat. It was funny. This ride was alright the only reason I didn’t like it was because my shoes were soaked when I got off. Not good.

A while after the Merry Go Round caught our eyes Daniel instantly refused to go on it but Leanne and I made him got on it. During the ride we saw Daniel smile. I assumed it was because he was enjoying himself. We only went on this ride once.

We then went onboard the Mr Monkeys Banana Ride (one time). There was a four year old also on it with her parents. Daniel, Leanne and I all seemed to find this ride makes your belly go weird. All three of us had curled up faces however the four year old had a smile on her face the whole time.
We then took a slow walk to the Spinning Cups where we had stayed on for a long time. I began to feel sick after eight turns in a role however, both Daniel and Leanne stayed on for another two turns. I felt like throwing up.

Rumba Rapids later caught my eye. We go on board this ride. I personally enjoyed this ride. The first time we went on this ride when we went through the dark tunnel we all thought we were going to get attacked by zombies but fortunately we didn’t. We went on this for seven times in a row. Then we came together with Elvire, Frankie and Asma for another two turns. We talked about our day and then Elvire told us about the next ride we went on... No Way Out.

When we reached X (No Way Out) my reaction was generally scared because I knew Elvire was up to something. When we entered the ride it was a maze. Elvire done a scene from her movie she is later going to release walking through it. We then reached the roller coaster. I was actually excited. We sat on board and I began to fix my lace. A while after I realized that the man was waiting to put my bar down. Awkward. The ride shot off into this dark area and then BOOM! Music started blaring and disco lights started flashing the roller coaster kicked off and my arms instantly went up in the air and I started screaming. This was my favourite ride of the whole day. When we came out we decided to go on it again. This time I was doing Elvire’s scene from her movie with her and again we got into the roller coaster. I was expecting the ride to be at the same speed as the last turn but it seemed to go faster which shocked me.

thorpe park review

In this review, I will be talking about how IT is very important in theme park.

Our lasts visit to Thorpe was amazing because Thorpe Park had many scary and cool rides. There was a workshop that gave us information on how IT is used in theme parks. Thorpe Park is one of the theme parks in UK. Not only the rides are important in a theme park, but IT is also very important because without IT, the rides wouldn’t have started and stopped.
As a ride is first thought of, its shape, design, colour speed and height are all planned on a computer with the help of much good IT software. The IT software gives an idea on how the ride will look in real life and also helps design the rollercoaster. Also the Thorpe parks website has been created on a computer with the help of IT software (one of the IT software is called draw plus to design websites).

Stealth is one of the tallest and fastest rides in Thorpe Park and in UK. Because stealth is tall, at first it was hard for the coaster to go straight up and over the loop and then back down. It only went to the top and came back down. It wasn’t harmful and people liked it but, it was done by accident. This happened because when the coaster had light people on it, it was easy for the ride to continue, but when it had heavy people on it, it was hard to take them over and came back down. Now, with the help of IT, stealth give everyone a complete shock and entertains by completing the ride no matter how heavy and light the people are.

If there wasn’t IT, then the ride wouldn’t have stopped and started.it controls the brakes on the roller coaster that slows down the coaster when it’s needed. The brakes work with sensors that work by IT.

Swarm is one of the fastest rides in Thorpe Park. At first, swarm didn’t had a slow stop so it gave people neck ace. Now the brakes (working by IT) gives swarm a slow stop and making our stomach go upside down.

So overall IT is very important in theme parks because everything works with information technology. Without IT there would have been rides and without rides. No theme park to entertain us.

Review of Thorpe Park
On the 22nd of May me and my classmates where taken on a trip to Thorpe park. I enjoyed the very much. I benefited from it very much and learnt how i.c.t is used in theme parks and how they operate. I learnt about some of the systems that are used and it went on thrilling rides such as swarm, stealth, tidal wave and many more.

First of all we got into the coach and it was a 2 hour journey. When we arrived we had enough time to go on one ride before the work shop to warm up. We had to be there by 11:00. When we arrived the work shop was very interesting and I understood a lot about how i.c.t is used in the park. We got to to8uch a few of the equipment that was used. I enjoyed it very much.

After the work shop we got to go on all the rides we wanted to and that was amazing. After that we ate and then went back to go on more.

At 4:30 we had to meet up all the main entrance took the coach and went home. The journey back took 2 hours and a half to get home. It was an incredible day and I learnt a lot about i.c.t from it.

Temple run

Introduction:

Temple run is an endless action running game that was based in imangi studios. The player steals an idol from a temple and gets chased by couple of monkeys. The player has to travel through a tough way to escape. This game is only introduced on smartphones and android including tablets.

Story:

The story of the game is based on one character that steals an idol from the temple and has to escape before getting caught by the monkeys that are chasing him. The player has to face tough challenges and a tough surface to run on. The player of the game than controls the character in the game and as the character is running from the temple this is why the game was called temple run.

Gameplay:

Temple run the object of this game is to run as far as you can as it is an endless running game. The player faces tough challenges but still has to hold on to get the best score they can. While running the player faces random obstacles in which they either have to slide or jump. The player can also collect coins there are two types of coins which are 2 points coin or three points coin they can also win trophies if they collect certain amount of points. There are also other things that gives the player and advantage to get the best score which are collecting diamonds which gives you another chance if you die so you can carry on from the same place you died from. There are also different players in the game that you can unlock with the coins that you have collected. This game is a touchscreen game that can be accessed on I phones/ smartphones. This is because it is only compatible as it works well with these devices.

Graphics:
The graphics used in this game are to give it a pitch of its story the temple. It uses the colour gold and other dull colours. I think that the graphics of the game could improve ads they can add more bright colours however the colours used to work well with the story as it makes it look more serious and were the game is based. The game is 2d rather than 3d as it is restricted because of the devices that it is compatible with.

Sound:
I think the sound of the game can improve as it only has a background noise of water and makes a sound when the character jumps. So they can add more sound to it, more noises when the character comes up to the random obstacles. Overall I think the sound can be improved however the sound that is currently used go with the game.
Conclusion:
Overall I think that temple run is a very good game even though it is simple and doesn’t have much action to it. It’s an addictive game I would say because as once the player plays it they would want to keep on playing it to beat their previous score. The sound and the graphics is not too good and can be improved however on the whole temple run is a fantastic endless running game.
Summary:
As I mentioned temple run is a very good game it could have more adventure into it and add more features such as multiplayer. There could also be a better story behind it however it does have many advantages such as it’s a simple game and easy to play. It could get very difficult and challenges as you progress while playing the game. Overall this game could be improved however I wouldn’t call it a bad game.
